Jumping to the Wrong Conclusion
There are things worse than getting pulled over for speeding -- such as
getting pulled over for speeding and then getting a DWI. And there are
even some things worse than a DWI -- such as death.
Of course, 24-year-old Mike Riley, Jr. of Mankato, Minnesota, didn't think
so. After he was stopped on a bridge in Nicollet County on April 19th,
he was devastated when he failed his sobriety test. Why? Because his father
was a well-known attorney in Nicollet County.
When he realized there was no way out of his situation, he announced to
officers on the scene, "I'm outta here!" He then ran and jumped off the
bridge into the river below.
At the time, officers didn't know if Riley survived his jump, because
no one had seen him since his impulsive leap. However, troopers discovered
his body on Saturday, June 9th. Apparently, he didn't make it far that
night. He drowned almost instantly after impact
