Crash Course in Bicycle Safety
Who says there's no justice or mercy in the world?
In the Bronx, N.Y., Jason Vizcarrondo, 27, swiped a mountain bike belonging
to Paul Infante, 17, and sped off. Infante took off after the bicycle thief.
Vizcarrando tried to swerve to avoid an oncoming bus but lost control and fell
onto the street. The driver couldn't stop in time and hit Vizcarrondo. As the
unlucky thief lay dying in the intersection, a 15-year-old boy came along. However,
instead of trying to help Vizcarrondo, he stole the bike and rode off again.
This time the police were on the scene and collared the juvenile. Infante didn't
press charges, though. He said he just wanted his bike back. Maybe next time
he'll remember to lock his bike before taking off to a deli two blocks away.
